Thanks for all the comments and questions about our last post – Concealer: Don’t Leave Home without It!!

I wanted to take the time to answer all of your questions and announce the 4 winners of the pointed concealer brush!

Question 1: what’s the trick (or brush, or concealer type, or application secret) to getting rid of blue-ish undereyes and looking finished in the undereye area without looking cakey, chalky (between both concealer and a finishing powder)???

Answer: There are a few things you can do. I always make sure that I have applied and under eye cream before I begin my makeup application. This will give you a smooth and moisturized surface. Also, try applying a small amount of eye primer to the areas that you will be applying concealer. Make sure to always let these products dry fully as they may cause the concealer to go on blotchy. Then take a small eye shadow brush and gently tap a translucent or setting powder over top of the concealer. This may help reduce the appearance of a chalky finish.

Question 2: Should women have a wardrobe of concealer brushes just as we seem to acquire an assortment of concealers? Which of your brushes is best for the undereye area? And finally, is the pointed brush for stippling a spot such as a blemish or does it have other uses as well?

Answer: I am not going to tell all of you to go out and buy 6 different types of brushes or concealers. First look at what you already have, is it working for you? If no, then decide which product is best suited for your skin type and for what you wish to conceal… Brushes are important and I do have about 2-3 sizes and shapes that I use. For under eye area, a regular shaped concealer brush is all you will need. Remember to look for a concealer brush made in synthetic fibers, it will work better with the consistency of the product. For blemish and spot touch ups, I prefer to use a small shaped brush. I find this helps work product gently into sensitive areas without applying to much to the surrounding skin. And to answer your question about the pointed concealer brush, you are right it is for stippling, and it is perfect for spot touch ups and blemishes!!

Hope this helps!!
